Following university graduation, Gordon began his career in the transportation industry and assumed increasing responsibilities with large and leading Canadian trucking companies over a period of 25 years. Leaving the industry, he began consulting in 1990 and for five years was Managing Partner of a turnaround and recovery practice eventually combining efforts with KPMG in 1995. Following initial visits to China in 1990 and 1994, he relocated to Beijing China in January 1998 to lead KPMG Beijing Management Consulting practice. Remaining in Asia, in September 2001 he moved with KPMG to Seoul Korea as a Corporate Finance Partner and the Risk Management Partner for the firm. In May 2004, he returned to Shanghai joining PKF to continue serving foreign and domestic clients in hospitality, transportation and general management areas.

With a keen desire to return to China, Gordon joined the practice of a prior associate Wingsee Auyueng. The practice areas include market entry, due diligence and financial advisory services primarily for foreign companies and providing services to Chinese State Owned Enterprises and Chinese Domestic Companies to improve corporate governance and management processes.
Clients include: Sinotrans, Methode Engineering, COSCO, IFC (World Bank), Intrawest Travel and Leisure Group, Melco China Resorts, CIFCO, Capital Land

2001 – 2003 Samjong KPMG FAS Inc – Partner, Seoul Korea

Reporting to the CEO, Gordon was an internationally accredited Partner in Corporate Finance, Corporate Recovery and Transaction Services Practice Areas, and the only foreign partner in that practice. In addition, he was the Risk Management Partner for Financial Advisory Services (FAS) in Korea. His duties were to oversee assigned projects and act as consultation partner for Korean lead partners on projects deemed high risk and projects with international or cross border implications. In addition, he led the preparation of the FAS practice area for International Accreditation of Corporate Finance and Corporate Recovery (achieved 2003).

1998 – 2001 KPMG Huazhen – Partner, Beijing PRC

Reporting to the COO of the China Practice, he was Partner in Charge of Consulting in Beijing and the only foreign employee in that practice. He was responsible for three principal areas of business; market entry, financial advisory and immigration application support.
Clients included: Volvo, Mercedes, City of Beijing, Tianjin Dagang Ocean Park, Holiday Inns China, Huawei Technologies, CISCO Technologies, IKEA, Ericsson, China WIN Network, FMC Asia, Intralox, Apple Computer, Mercer Management, ALCON China

Services provided included turnarounds, workouts and refinancing of transportation and distribution companies. He was the project leader for the trucking industry safety compliance initiatives and member of the national transportation practice.

Gordon was responsible for Western Canada operation of 23 terminals and 1,500 employees with revenues exceeding $100 million CN.

Initially upon graduation, Gordon was first involved with a start-up division which led to a joint venture with CIL Ltd. to form TriCil Waste Management Ltd, ultimately with revenues exceeding $300 million CN. Following that assignment he went on with the company to manage several of their largest trucking terminals.

Assisted the largest global ski resort operator to assess opportunities, develop vertically integrated strategy and execute entry into China’s ski market

Over a period of 2 years, designed and implemented key management processes for the largest state owned Transportation Company

Prepared an initial Handbook for Managing Growth for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Sichuan Province

Assisted a global auto parts manufacturer to acquire a domestic auto design and engineering company

Assisted over 300 foreign companies to establish operations in China

Prepared business plans, action plans and strategic assessments for the purpose of either fund raising or focusing management attention on developing or improving business for both foreign and domestic invested companies

Assisted over 200 Chinese entrepreneur and investor immigrants to Canada and Australia by providing an overall assessment of their business, valuation report and net worth calculation (KPMG Huazhen was a preferred service provider of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing)

Other assignments included prepared feasibility studies for hotels and other recreational properties, consolidation/merger advisory of hotels for IPO, financial advisory services for a BOT Water Treatment Facility valued over $250 million US
